ADULTS IN GUIDING There are many ways to become involved in Guiding as an adult. You may choose to become a leader with a Rainbow, Brownie, Guide or Senior Section unit, a unit helper or you may choose to simply become an advisor in a particular field
Becoming a Guide leader is a great way to make new friends and add to your personal skills. If you're new to the area why not consider joining us. Guiders are volunteers aged 18 to 65 who are trained to help girls and young women to reach their potential and equip them with the necessary life skills.
To become a Guider you must be willing to make the Guide promise and undertake a small amount of training. You must enjoy working with girls and young women. You need energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humour is essential. You will also need to give your time, in most cases one evening per week, sometimes more, but you need never worry as help and advice are always available. All adults involved in Guiding must agree to complete the necessary documentation for an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
After training you will be qualified in the following areas, which are useful enhancements for CVs when seeking employment.
- running regular unit meetings incorporating a varied and balanced programme
- maintaining unit records and accounts
- providing a healthy and safe environment for the girls
